when i think of shoes i am hit by two thoughts, the first comes soft and warmly with the idea of wearing something that in itself can be a unique item; comfortable, worn in, versatile, a companion when the clothes on our backs change. and then i am flooded with the realisation that all this comes at a price. the rubber sole comes from plantations that demands a large surface area that probably was once forest, much like the laces that most likely came from water leaching cotton field, and then of course the leather that probably came from a slaughter house before polluting the soil in a tannery. all such things leave one with the feeling of disappointment, both towards oneself and the shoe making industry.
that of course was until veja spread its wings and came to the rescue of all eco-shoe lovers around the world. considered as the ‘green sneaker’, veja works directly with small scale producers in Brazil who produce organic cotton and natural latex from the Amazon, creating a ’supply chain that respects both humans and the environment’.
nothing can feel better than opening your shoe box and for the lid to explain the travel the shoes made to land on your feet.

*Its all just stuff. Until you ethically consume.
